Title III: English Language Learners
The purpose of Title III is to help ensure that Limited English Proficient (LEP) students attain English language proficiency and meet the same challenging academic content and achievement standards that all students are expected to meet.
The ways that TSD assist their EL students is to contract with Wayne County RESA to provide individual weekly assistance. They attend classes with their students to work with them directly in their classes and occasionally pull them out to work one on one with them on the Engligh Language Standards.
Every year in the Spring, EL students are assessed on their English acquisition using a tool called the WIDA (World-Class Instruction and Design Assessment). This particular assessment measures the students knowledge on the English Language Standards.
