National Honor Society welcomes new members

By Aria Ragland, ‘26

Next week, on Tuesday, May 9th, The National Honor Society Induction Ceremony will commence. The NHS annually recognizes the best and brightest!

NHS is an academic service organization, recognizing the highest achievers across the United States. Students must have earned at least a 3.65 gpa and have displayed excellence in the four criteria: Scholarship (academic achievement), Leadership, Service, and Character. Founded in 1921, NHS combines academic excellence with community and school service. There is a community service requirement that must be met in order to be a member. Over a million students participate in the organization every year!

The National Honor Society Pledge ensures that students are aware of their commitment to their school and community, as well as academic excellence:  “I pledge myself to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society, to which I have been selected; I will be true to the principles for which it stands; I will be loyal to my school; and will maintain and encourage high standards of Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service.”
