A Word from our School Nurse

Dear McDowell Parents/Guardians,

We are very careful in school to minimize the exposure of all of our children and staff to illness/disease. This communication is a general reminder to help keep our students and staff healthy. Please help us in our effort to keep McDowell germ free.

If your child has the following symptoms, it is better NOT to send them to school until these symptoms have been gone for 24 hours.

- A fever of 99.5 or higher
- Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours
- Hacking productive cough
- Yellow or green drainage from the nose
- Drainage from the eyes that is not clear
- Sore throat
- A rash that has not been identified from a physician

If your child comes to school and then reports these symptoms to us, we will call and ask someone to come and pick them up. Please make sure to keep emergency cards updated with any phone number changes.

Also, please join our efforts at school to remind your child to wash their hands frequently throughout the day and to keep their fingers away from their eyes, nose and mouth.

Thank you for helping to keep McDowell healthy and germ free.
