McDowell Positive Behavior Expectations

P.B.I.S. 

School-wide Positive Behavior Support  is a proactive approach based on a three-tiered model of prevention and intervention aimed at creating safe and effective schools. Emphasis is placed on teaching and reinforcing important social skills and data-based problem-solving to address existing behavior concerns. PBIS  is being implemented in thousands of schools across the country and has been demonstrated to reduce discipline problems and increase time for instruction.

Classroom Behavior Expectaions -

Be Respectful -
Listen when others are speaking and speak when it's your turn - Use appropriate and postitve language.- Respect people and property - Use good manners

Be Responsible -
Follow directions the first time they are given - Take care of your personal belongings and clean up after yourself - Do your personal best - Be prepared to be successful

Be Safe -
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself - Use materials appropriately

Hallway Behavior Expectations -

Be Respectful -
Be silent -  Walk quietly - Respect all hallway displays

Be Responsible -
Go directly to your destination - Maintain personal space - Report problems to a staff member

Be Safe -
Face Forward - Wall at a safe [ace om a straight line - Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself - Stay to the right

Bathroon Behavior Expectations

Be Respectful -
Respect the privacy of others - Be quick and quiet - Keep bathrooms clean

Be Responsible -
Report damage or disturbances to a staff member - Flush the toilet - Clean up after yourself - Return to your class promptly

Be Safe -
Wash hands with soap and water

Cafeteria Behavior Expectations

Be Respectful -
Follow all staff directions the first time given - Use appropriate and positive language - Use good manners - Use quiet voice

Be Responsible -
Use Hallway Procedures while waiting - Only sit and visit with students at your assigned table - Raise your hand for assistance - Use your best table manners - Clean up after yourself

Be Safe -
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself - Eat your own food - Wait for permission to leave your table - Walk at a safe pace

Office Behavior Expectations

Be Respectful -
Report to the desk and address the staff politely - Wait quietly and patiently - Use good Manners, such as: please, thank you, and excuse me

Be Responsible -
Tell the truth - Speak clearly

Be Safe -
Wait patiently while sitting or standing in a designated area

Arrival & Dismissal Behavior Expectations

Be Respectful -
Follow all staff directions the first time given - Use appropriate and positive language - Remove all hats and hoods upon arrival - Use quiet voice

Be Responsible -
Arrive on time - Wait in your assigned area - Take care of your belongings - Listen for your bus to be called

Be Safe -
Walk to and from the bus - Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself - Stay on the sidewalks and cross at the corners - Go directly home
