Hoover Action Institute is an after school enrichment program for Hoover students in the 7th & 8th grade. Eligible participants will include students who are currently performing below grade level in Math and Language Arts classes, students who have difficulty maintaining focus in class, and students who are falling behind in their daily homework and/or assignments. Goals: 
There are four main goals of the program as we strive to offer the highest quality programming for your students after school: 
 
· Academic Enrichment: Enrichment provided by a State of Michigan Certified Teacher 3 days a week to supplement the regular curriculum. This will include interactive, hands-on lessons in all subjects. We will also focus on homework assistance, tutoring, computer skill development and overall academic achievement. 
· Cultural/Recreational Enrichment: The students will be exposed to cultural activities, athletics and social skill building. Activities will include student clubs (cards, gardening, scrap booking, etc.) and instructed activities (dance, martial arts, and sports). 
· Personal Enrichment: The students will be exposed to a variety of topics designed to assist them as they face different challenges and obstacles. This may include prevention programs, leadership development and anger management. 
· Parental and Family Support: We will seek to involve parents and families through on-going events and parent enrichment activities, as well as help family’s access assistance and resources. 
 
The Action Institute Curriculum will be Comprised of: 
Homework Support, Academic Tutoring, Literacy Support, Technology, Life Skills, Drug and Violence Prevention and Education, Recreational Activities, Nutrition Education, Gardening, Art, Music, and Drama, Newspaper and Photography, Pod-Casts, Micro-Society, Programming for Parents and Adults, and Field Trips. 
 
Cost: 
All activities during the Action Institute are provided at no charge to the families participating. This includes snacks, lessons, field trips and any other program activities. 
 
Registration:
Registration packets can be found in the Hoover Middle School main office.  Please fill out the packet completely and return it to the Hoover Middle School main office.  There are only 75 spots available, register your student early.
