Office Rules

You need permission from your teacher AND A PASS to visit
the counseling area. You must obtain a "Request to See Counselor"
form from your teacher if you need assistance from a counselor
or administrator.

Emergency situations allow you to request permission from
your teacher or to report during a hall passing. Emergencies are
illness, falls, broken bones, insect stings, girls-personal, and
nose bleeds.
Attendance Rules

If you are absent, your parent must call the school or
counselor with the reason for the absence. The attendance office
number is 313-295-5782.

Make it your goal to never miss any school. Being absent can
affect your grade and it may result in loss of credit.

It is the responsibility of each student to be in their seat
and ready to work at the start of class. Tardiness in not
acceptable.

Excessive tardiness will result in referrals to the
counselor and ultimately to the assistant principal.

If you miss more than one half of a class period, it will be
counted as an absence from that class for the day.
Absence from school for the day means any student not in
attendance for at least 4 class periods.

Students absent or suspended on the day of an after school
activity will not be allowed to participate that day.

Student ID
All Hoover students receive a picture ID. They must have them on their
person each day they are in school. There is a $10.00 charge to replace
it. Students use their ID's to check out library books. Student ID's are
also checked upon entering the Morning Gym Program and entering the
cafeteria for lunch.
Tardy Policy
Tardies 1 - 3

Warning from teacher, possible phone call home
Tardies 4 - 6
- Morning detention assigned by the teacher
- 7:00 am - 7:35 am (only students with detention will be allowed
in the building at 7:00, all others have to wait until 7:15)
Tardies 7 and up
- Teacher writes referral
- Assistant principal assigns out-of-school suspension
Students need to have
something to work on
or read during detention.
Cafeteria Rules

You may sit wherever you like in the cafeteria and remain
seated during the entire lunch period.

Your talking should be soft and conversational at all times.

When anyone uses the microphone, you are to cease all talking
immediately.

You are responsible for disposing of all trash on, under, or
near your table. No food is to be taken out of the cafeteria.

Lunch detentions may be assigned when deemed necessary.
