Parent Volunteer Policy
Parents are encouraged to visit and will be asked to
volunteer in their child's classroom approximately once
a month to fulfill grant requirements. Sign-up sheets
will be posted prior to each month. Copies will be sent
home after every family has had the opportunity to
sign-up. It is the responsibility of the parents to
follow the schedule. Other adult family members may
substitute for the parent.
The following policies are provided to ensure a safe and
pleasant environment for children, parent, staff and
volunteers.
Volunteers are not left alone
with a child or children. For example:
Only school staff may accompany children when they leave the room
Only school staff may assist children in bathroom needs
Only school staff may supervise children in emergency situations
The following are prohibited
during any program activity
Offensive language: sexual, racial or ethnic slurs; name calling
Violating confidentiality
Smoking in the presence of children
Sexual harassment
Neglecting, endangering or abusing children
Being under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Possession of drugs or alcohol
Verbal or physical threats
Any act of violence
Use of children's mailboxes as a means of parent communication
Gossiping or slandering of children, staff or families
Any illegal conduct
