Johnson Preschool Program
It is our belief that children are capable and unique individuals. We seek to provide a comfortable and secure atmosphere that allows children to grow at their own rate in each area of development. We encourage a positive learning environment that will help children become independent problem solvers with the skills needed to succeed in school. Additionally, children whose parents are involved in their education learn better in all areas of development.
We believe children learn better in a relaxed, happy and intellectually stimulating atmosphere. Here, children can eagerly and naturally develop their individual, physical, social and cognitive skills. The physical environment, equipment and materials have been carefully selected to be age-appropriate. The learning activities, guidance methods, daily schedule and routines are planned to promote these goals.
The program considers every segment of the day to be important, each offering the child special opportunities for growth and learning. Some emphasize opportunities for self-initiated and spontaneous types of play. Other time-blocks feature teacher-directed group activities, during which the children are encouraged (but never forced) to join. The schedule also involves daily routines such as snack time, clean-up time and opportunities for outside exploration.
