Program Eligibility

The Johnson Preschool program is a state funded program that provides early learning experience for four-year old children who reside within the boundaries of the Taylor School District.  Children who are subject to the greatest number of risk factors, as determined by the State of Michigan, for possible school failure will be selected first for enrollment into the program.  Children whose family situation qualifies them for acceptance into the program must be four years of age by December 1st of the school year in which they are enrolled.

Parents will be interviewed and asked to provide documentation of family income and evidence of other risk factors that describe the child. These will be explained in the interview and will include such items as the child's birth weight, development level and family history.  Those children who are low income will be admitted to the preschool program first with those who have the greatest number of risk factors being considered next.  A waiting list will be maintained from from which children with the greatest number of risk factors will be selected first for the program openings.
